Windows

On Windows platforms, hardware ID includes processor ID and HDD ID. HDD ID sometimes isn't included in case it cannot be obtained because of special hardware configuration. Multiple HDD configuration or RAID can sometimes demand different licensing procedures to avoid issues. 

Linux

Each hardware ID on Linux platforms contains a MAC address and also a processor ID like on Windows.
